Gavin DeGraw Joining 'Dancing With the Stars,' Says Ryan Tedder (Video)
The OneRepublic singer and multiple Grammy nominee tells THR that his good pal is ready to hit the dance floor, but it remains unclear whether the “Sweeter” singer has officially inked a deal with ABC.
Gavin DeGraw could be heading to reality TV, says good pal Ryan Tedder.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, the OneRepublic frontman and multiple nominee let loose that his good pal DeGraw is pondering a campaign for ABC’s coveted mirror ball trophy.

“Gavin DeGraw is doing Dancing With the Stars, I heard,” Tedder spilled on the red carpet. The duo most recently collaborated on DeGraw’s “Not Over You” and “Sweeter,” and both have been known to gush about each other’s talents to the press -- a true bromance.
“He’s amazing. He’s one of my favorite male singers alive,” Tedder added.

Tedder walked away a winner on Sunday night, with Adele’s 21 -- which he produced -- taking album of the year. He was also nominated in the producer of the year category, but lost out to Paul Epworth.
Tedder didn’t mince words when talking about so-called “Basement” stars, who have risen from obscurity to worldwide fame with a series of YouTube videos or a starring role on reality programs such as American Idol, X Factor or The Voice.
“I don’t want to name names, but there are YouTube stars right now -- and you can fill in the blank -- who are struggling,” he frankly stated. “The problem is, you go from your basement to 100 million people in 30 days… stage fright goes away when you do it enough, but if you just go from your basement to TV or your basement to the stage or your basement to a music video, it’s overwhelming. It’s not fair.”
“What happens is, something blows up big enough and if one record label is gonna sign it, then the other ones are like, ‘They can’t have it, I wanna sign it,’” he continued. “So then, all of the sudden you have this artist who got signed out of their basement to a $2 million record deal -- They’ll never recoup, they’re screwed. They don’t have any hit songs. It actually works against them.”
