ABC is heading to The Thousandth Floor.

The network is teaming with Greg Berlanti and former collaborator Maggie Friedman to adapt Katharine McGee's upcoming book trilogy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The first book in the series, published by HarperTeen, is due in 2017.

The drama is set in the year 2118 and takes place in a thousand-story supertower on Manhattan's Upper East Side. When a young woman falls from the 1,000th floor, her death ignites a scandal that ensnares the top-floor elite and bottom-floor drones. The drama, which has received a script commitment from the network, explores a hyper-stratified world where the higher you climb, the farther you fall.

Friedman — who created Lifetime's Witches of East End — will pen the script and executive produce alongside Warner Bros. Television-based Berlanti and his Greg Berlanti Productions topper Sarah SchechterFloor hails from WBTV and Alloy Entertainment, with the latter's Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo also attached to exec produce.

Floor marks Berlanti's fifth sale this season and first to ABC. The prolific producer behind The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Blindspot, Mysteries of Laura and Supergirl has two crime dramas at CBSOut of Body, from Jennifer Johnson (Lost) and Chris Fedak (Chuck) — as well as a Brides of Dracula entry for NBC and Archie Comics reboot Riverdale at The CW.

Floor reunites Berlanti with Friedman, who previously teamed on Dawson's Creek and Jack & Bobby, among others.

For Alloy, the project is the latest TV foray following The CW's Significant Mother, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, The 100 and ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars, among others. Should it go to series, it would follow another high-rise New York building drama, ABC's 666 Park Avenue.

Friedman is repped by CAA, Ensemble Entertainment and McKuin Frankel; Berlanti is with WME and Felker Toczek.
