'Grey's Anatomy's' Sandra Oh, 'Walking Dead's' David Morrissey Book Encore Crime Drama
The two-part crime drama, "Thorne," will debut June 12 and 13 as part of the cable network's summer lineup.
Encore is looking to star power from Grey's Anatomy and The Walking Dead to kick off its summer.
Sandra Oh and David Morrissey will star in the cable network's two-part crime drama Thorne, the network announced Wednesday.
In the project, which will air over two nights in June, Morrissey will play Detective Inspector Tom Thorne, who has a gritty sensibility and unhinged desire to discover killers. Oh will play Detective Sgt. Sarah McEvoy, a tough cop who's battling a drug addiction.
STORY: AMC's The Walking Dead' Finds its Governor
Natascha McElhone (Californication), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones) and Eddie Marsan (Snow White and the Huntsman) co-star in Thorne, which was adapted from Mark Billingham's best-selling novels and directed by House of Lies' Stephen Hopkins.
Part 1 (Thorne: Sleepyhead) will air Tuesday, June 12 at 9 p.m., with the second half (Thorne: Scaredy Cat) set for the following night at the same time.
Morrissey was cast in February as the evil villain The Governor in the upcoming third season of AMC's The Walking Dead.
Elsewhere on the network, Encore has set Sunday, May 20 for the debut of interview series Movie Talk With Peter Bart. The series will launch at 10 a.m. and move to Sunday mornings between 9-11 a.m. in subsequent weeks.
