Paris Barclay is heading full time to Shondaland.

The Emmy-winning helmer and former DGA president has been tapped to serve as the producing director and exec producer of Shondaland's untitled Grey's Anatomy spinoff.

The spinoff, picked up straight to series in May, centers on a group of heroic firefighters from the captain down the ranks in their personal and professional lives. The first episode will air as a planted episode of the veteran medical drama, which is set to return in the fall on ABC for its 14th season.

The spinoff will feature an entirely new cast, as none of the regulars from Grey's have been identified as candidates to move over to the spinoff. (This could seem to eliminate a theory that Grey's star Jason George, whose character Ben went full firefighter mode in May's season 13 finale, would be a prime candidate to move to the spinoff.)

Barclay, who served in the same capacity on Fox's Major League Baseball drama Pitch last season, joins Shonda Rhimes and her Shondaland partner Betsy Beers as exec producers on the spinoff. Grey's exec producer/co-showrunner Stacy McKee will transition to the spinoff full-time.

Barclay earned a pair of Emmys for his directing work on NYPD Blue and counts Glee, ER, The West Wing, House, Weeds and In Treatment among his credits. The Grey's spinoff is Barclay's second visit to Shondaland after he directed an episode of Rhimes' Scandal in 2016. He's repped by ICM Partners.
