NBC Offering Full 'Grimm' Pilot Before Premiere
The upcoming fairytale procedural will be available via social media prior to its Oct. 28 debut.
In an effort to boost viewers to its series debut later this month, NBC's new fairytale procedural Grimm is getting some special treatment.
The network is offering the full pilot of the hourlong drama before it launches on Friday, Oct. 28 at 9 p.m., but there's a catch: Viewers must follow its official Twitter handle for the show in order to gain access.
Additionally, NBC has scheduled a 10-city, nationwide tour beginning Tuesday in Los Angeles (The Grove); other cities include Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington D.C., Denver, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Seattle and Portland. A screening of the series' first episode will be shown, with cast members and executive producers on tap to discuss the new show.
"NBC is proud to introduce Grimm in such a novel way by reaching out to the show's Twitter followers and allowing them to be the first to connect with an equally unique series," said Len Fogge, president of marketing at NBC Entertainment. "Likewise, the 10-city screening tour will give early viewers an in-person preview of the first episode to see what the excitement is all about."
Twenty minutes of Grimm will also be made available on NBC's official website, Hulu, VOD and iTunes just to name a few beginning Friday, Oct. 21.
So far this season, networks have been utilizing social media and the various platforms available to increase sampling for their new shows. Fox's New Girl and Showtime's Homeland were just some of the shows available before their premieres. When it launches, Grimm will be up against Fox's Fringe, the CW's Supernatural and CBS' CSI: NY in its 9 p.m. hour.
