Jimmy Kimmel isn't holding anything back.

With a new time-slot competitor in the Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live! is rolling out the big guns with the first trailer debut for the anticipated Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy on Tuesday. Chris Pratt, on a high from box-office performer The Lego Movie, will help premiere the footage.

This is the ABC late-night talker's latest high-profile get, following the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover unveiling last Thursday -- an annual headline-maker that had been a Late Show staple for the past six years -- and after Kimmel welcomed faux nemesis Matt Damon and the star-studded Monuments Men cast for an entire hour.

The timing of the trailer debut is of note, with Fallon still in the early stages of his Tonight Show career. Fallon will have Jerry Seinfeld, Kristen Wiig and Lady Gaga on the docket that evening.

Guardians of the Galaxy follows brash adventurer Peter Quill (Pratt) who finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade Ronan, Quill is forced into a truce with a quartet of misfits. When he discovers the power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must rally his ragtag rivals for a last stand, with the galaxy's fate in the balance.

Guardians of the Galaxy also stars Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Benicio Del Toro, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly and Glenn Close. The James Gunn-directed film hits theaters Aug. 1.
