'Happy Endings' Adam Pally and Casey Wilson Imagine When Their Characters Dated (Video)
The cast mates describe what they expect if the ABC series flashes back to when Max and Penny were an item.
ABC’s Happy Endings returns for Season 2 on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. and really anything can happen on the comedy and probably will.
“I think we know that we get to push it even further,” Adam Pally, who plays Max, tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We have this great time slot after Modern Family that’s just like so many more viewers we’re going to get. And I think that the writers, instead of toning it down for that, we get to go even further. I’m really looking forward to that.”
“Like everything I think was fun about last season is getting jacked up this season in a good way,” Casey Wilson, who plays Penny, adds.
The season starts out pretty dynamically for their two characters. Max tries out an honest living and Penny buys her own home, declaring this “The Year of Penny.” Later this season, we’ll meet her fabulous mother played by Will & Grace’s Megan Mullally.

We asked the stars what they’d like to explore on the upcoming season and Pally says he’d love to revisit the time when Max and Penny dated.
“I look forward to the flashbacks to Max and Penny’s relationship when they were dating,” he says. “I look forward to learning a little more about that relationship.”
Watch our interview above as the cast mates describe their hilarious visions for how that relationship might have looked like.
