'Happy Endings' Alum Elisha Cuthbert to Star in NBC's Lesbian Comedy
She'll play the lesbian who gets pregnant with her best friend's baby just as he meets and marries the love of his life.
Happy Endings alum Elisha Cuthbert is headed to NBC.
The actress has been tapped to star in the network's comedy pilot One Big Happy, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The multicamera comedy centers on Lizzy, a lesbian who attempts to get pregnant via artificial insemination with her straight male best friend and roommate Luke (2 Broke Girls' Nick Zano). The plan succeeds, and Lizzy finally gets pregnant — just as Luke meets and impulsively marries the love of his life.
2 Broke Girls' Liz Feldman will pen the script and executive produce alongside Ellen DeGeneres and her A Very Good Production topper Jeff Kleeman. Scott Ellis will direct the pilot.
Cuthbert's casting continues the hot streak for Happy Endings alums this pilot season. Former EP Jonathan Groff will showrun NBC's Fifth Wheel; former co-star Zachary Knighton recently boarded Fox's six-episode comedy Weird Loners, while Damon Wayans Jr. (New Girl) and Adam Pally (The Mindy Project) are each receiving multiple offers. For their parts, Casey Wilson and Eliza Coupe already have their next projects lined up. Wilson will star in the NBC comedy Marry Me, from Happy Endings creator David Caspe, while Coupe's USA Network half-hour Benched has already been picked up to series. Not to be outdone, Caspe also has a comedy, Cuz-Bros, in contention at CBS.
Cuthbert (24) is repped by ICM Partners and John Carrabino Management.
