History Channel Adds Taxidermy Reality Show 'Mounted in Alaska' to Lineup

History is getting into the taxidermy business.

The network, under the leadership of Nancy Dubuc, has ordered 15 episodes of Mounted in Alaska, a reality series about the colorful world of long-time taxidermist Russell Knight. The show, from Thinkfactory Media (Gene Simmons' Family Jewels, Chasing Mummies), will premiere April 7th at 10 pm.

The announcement comes as the network just notched its best February on record, a running theme at the A&E-owned channel. Two million viewers, on average, tuned in, up 43 percent from a year earlier, according to Nielsen Co. For the first time ever, History was also a top 3 cable network in total viewers and the no. 1 cable network among the advertiser-beloved male 25-54 demo.

Mounted In Alaska will join a schedule of popular shows, including American Pickers, Ax Men, Pawn Stars and Top Shot. More recently, the reality-heavy network introduced Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy to strong ratings.
