Homeland is adding another player to its seventh season cast.

Dylan Baker has joined the Showtime drama as Sen. Sam Paley, a maverick politician from the Southwest who is leading an aggressive investigation into the Keane administration.

Homeland, toplined by Claire Danes, recently added Morgan Spector and Mackenzie Astin to its upcoming season as well. Production of the new installment started up on Sept. 11 in Richmond, Virginia, with plans for the Fox 21 Television Studios-produced series to premiere on Showtime in early 2018.

In addition, in July, the drama upped actors Jake Weber, Linus Roache and Maury Sterling to series regulars in an attempt to fill the void left by its departed star (Rupert Friend) last season. The killing off of the major character led to an uproar from a group of disgruntled Homeland fans called #NotOurHomeland, who paid for a scathing ad in The Hollywood Reporter magazine that criticized the show's creative team for the decision.

Baker's credits include The Good Wife and spinoff The Good Fight, The Americans, Blindspot, I'm Dying Up Here and Difficult People, among other TV shows and films. He is repped by Innovative Artists and Viking Entertainment.
