'Honey Boo Boo' Hits Record 3.1 Million With First Holiday Special
With the first of four themed broadcasts airing before the official return later this year, the TLC series also hits a new high in the adults 18-49 demo.
A little more than three months after Here Comes Honey Boo Boo concluded the first part of its buzzy freshman season, the TLC series returned Sunday night with the first of four specials about the Thompson family's recent holidays.
Honey Boo Boo's Halloween debuted to a 1.7 rating with adults 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers, against strong broadcast and cable competition, with most series returning from the holiday hiatus. Both figures mark records for the unscripted series.
Compared to its last original, Honey Boo Boo was up 10 percent from an audience of 2.8 million and 20 percent from a 1.4 rating with adults 18-49.
The first half of Honey Boo Boo's freshman season averaged 2.4 million viewers.
The next holiday special, Thanksgiving, airs next Sunday before a month-long break. The series returns with a clip show on Feb. 10, before a Christmas special premieres on Feb. 17.
