ABC Family Developing 'Hot Property' Dramedy (Exclusive)
The drama, based on a book by the stars of HGTV's "Selling New York," will center on a mom and two daughters who live and work together in the cutthroat world of New York real estate.
ABC Family is dipping its toe in the at once glamorous and grueling world of New York real estate.
The Disney-owned cable network is developing an hour-long dramedy titled Hot Property, based on a book by the same name. The latter was written by Michele, Sabrina and Samantha Kleier of HGTV’s reality series Selling New York.
The small screen iteration will center on Elizabeth Chase and her daughters, Kate and Isabel, who live and work together. Their lives are so intertwined that outsiders, including their own boyfriends, question if there is room for anything besides business and each other.
Melissa Carter, who has history at ABC Family care of her work on both Jane By Design and The Lying Game, is attached to pen the project. Richard Shepard, Sean Furst and Bryan Furst, who formed Ole two and a half years ago, will serve as producers on the effort. WME, which reps both the Kleiers as well as Ole, set up the project with ABC Family, and then teamed with the net's development executives to find a writer. Ole’s Meredith Ditlow will help oversee it.
If ultimately ordered to series, Hot Property would join efforts on ABC Family's growing scripted slate such as Pretty Little Liars, Baby Daddy and Bunheads as well as upcoming murder mystery Twisted and the Jennifer Lopez-produced The Fosters.
Carter is repped by Scripted World’s Robert Golenberg, who has a collection of pilots –Betrayal, Hostages-- in contention at the broadcast networks.
