'House of Lies' Actress to Co-Star in ABC's 'Reckless'

Bess Armstrong, who recurred on Showtime's House of Lies, has joined the cast of ABC's drama pilot Reckless, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

From ABC Studios, Reckless follows staid engineer David Ritter, whose wife, Sarah, goes missing during a military coup in East Myanmar. He casts off his generally careful demeanor and risks everything to get her back, including embezzling money from his powerful father-in-law's company to hire a mercenary.

Armstrong will play Catherine Harrison, mother to Sarah and wife to Tom. Considerate and empathetic, but not to be underestimated, she may defer to her husband publicly, but behind the scenes she is just as formidable.

Mad Men's Chris Black will pen the pilot and executive produce alongside Casino Royale's Martin Campbell, who will direct the ABC Studios pilot. Armstrong joins a cast that also includes Patrick Fugit, Naveen Andrews, Parminder Nagra, Ernie Hudson, Eloise Mumford and Ashton Holmes.

Armstrong is repped by David Shapira & Associates and Shelter Entertainment. Other TV credits include One Tree Hill, My So-Called Life, Mad Men and Frasier.
