Janssen has joined the Viola Davis starrer from executive producers Shonda Rhimes and showrunner Pete Nowalk for a multiple-episode arc. ABC declined comment on just whom Janssen would be playing but TV Line, who first reported the casting, says she'll portray a brilliant, revered defense attorney who takes her job very seriously.

Janssen joins a growing cast that has also enlisted The Vampire Diaries' Kendrick Sampson, who will recur and first appear in the season two premiere.

Details on Sampson's character are being kept under wraps.

Nowalk in May at an Emmys event teased that viewers will "meet a new character that figures prominently into Annalise’s life" in season two.

How to Get Away with Murder returns Sept. 24 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
