TruTV is sticking with Impractical Jokers.

The Turner-owned cable network has renewed its top-rated series for a sixth season, ensuring the show will remain on the air through 2017. The series' stars -- Staten Island natives Sal, Joe, Murr and Q -- made the announcement as part of a fan event in San Diego.

The forthcoming season will include 26 episodes, and comes on the heels of an hour-long summer premiere special that landed the unscripted comedy at No. 1 in its time-slot among young adults. Looking to build the brand beyond the linear series platform, the group has been performing on tour, too, having already played 90 cities in the past year, including three sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall. Their new tour, Impractical Jokers Santiago Sent Us, includes sold out shows at London's O2 arena.

“The continuing multiplatform success and incredible fan engagement we see around the Impractical Jokers makes this season six order a no-brainer,” said truTV president Chris Linn, adding: “Joe, Murr, Q and Sal have consistently raised the bar on the creativity and fun they bring to the show each week, and we’re looking forward to what they can dream up for season six.”

Produced by NorthSouth Productions (Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta), Impractical Jokers centers on four childhood friends who regularly dare each other to do ridiculous things in public. Their often extreme mischief is captured on hidden camera, as are the amused, confused or all-around flabbergasted reactions of unsuspecting strangers.

The series' fifth season is currently airing on Thursday nights; the sixth will debut in early 2017. It's part of a schedule that includes Billy on the Street, Adam Ruins Everything and Comedy Knockout.
