James Van Der Beek Describes His Fictional Appearance on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Video)
"People are going to die when they see how well he can dance," co-star Krysten Ritter tells THR. "It's shocking."
With an ideal, post-Modern Family time slot for their April 11 launch, Krysten Ritter and James Van Der Beek were naturally excited to talk about Don't Trust the B**** in Apt. 23 during the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Tuesday.
The Hollywood Reporter caught up with the stars of the new ABC comedy to talk about filming the freshman run and the differences between real and fake Van Der Beek. (He plays a parody of himself on the series.)
"Faux Van Der Beek is a lot of fun," Ritter said. "He's like a narcissistic, fabulous sort of monster, just like my character is... It's like apples and oranges. It really is a fictionalized character."

And with fictional celebrities come fictionalized turns on reality series. The Apt. 23 Van Der Beek takes on Dancing With the Stars in the first season.
"People are going to die when they see how well he can dance," said Ritter. "It's shocking."
"You don't see too much more of the preparation and the build up to it," said Van Der Beek. "My competition is Dean Cain. I have to beat Dean Cain. He's superman."
For Ritter, this is hardly the highlight of her co-star's storylines. "There's also an episode where James designs a line of jeans," she said. "We get to see his sweet cheeks."
