Jamie Lee Curtis to Star in CBS' Medical Reality Drama
Jamie Lee Curtis is poised to return to TV full-time.
The actress has landed the starring role in CBS' untitled David Marshall Grant drama, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Known as Only Human, the drama is based on the Israeli format Ran Quartet and is described as a soapy medical show centered around quadruplets -- three brothers and a sister -- who grew up on a reality show.
Curtis will play Caroline, the quadruplets' mother who is a dynamic and distinguished physician who now runs the Easton Hospital. Caroline seems hard-hitting and demanding, especially where her son Jonathan, a new hire at the hospital, is concerned. But her toughness really covers a devastating loss that she has never quite recovered from -- the death of her husband from a rare genetic disease. And the fact that her children have a 50-50 chance of meeting the same fate has colored her life ever since.
Should the drama move forward, the role would mark Curtis' first series regular role since 1989's Anything But Love. (She recently guest-starred on New Girl and NCIS.) She most recently was attached to star in an ABC Family horror drama The Final Girls, though it's unclear what her casting on the CBS pilot means for that project. Curtis is a six-time Golden Globe nominee, winning twice for her work in True Lies and ABC's Anything But Love, which ran for four seasons. She is repped by CAA and Jackoway Tyerman.
Grant will pen the script for the CBS Television Studios drama and will executive produce alongside Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Arik Kneller, Avi Armoza, Tariq Jalil, David Garrett, Yona Wiesenthal, Eilon Ratzkovsky, Givora Yaholom and Oren Jakobi.
