Cozi TV Greenlights Reality Series About Pregnancy and Fitness (Exclusive)
Cozi TV, the new network from the NBC Owned Stations group, is continuing to beef up its programming slate.
The network has greenlighted Pushing It, a reality show starring modern-day birthing coach and personal trainer Jenny Skoog, for a June 2 premiere. The series will follow Skoog and her adventures coaching and training three very driven New York women: a partner-to-be at a high-powered law firm, a very pregnant top-tier modeling agent and a first-time mom trying to regain her fitness regime.
Skoog aims to help them get their bodies in shape before, during and after pregnancy while also assisting them in navigating life's other challenges through her own brand of tough love and advice. Throughout the season, Skoog also delves into her own issues with her husband, Stanley.
"Jenny is tough but charming and truly cares about the women she works with," says Meredith McGinn, vp of Cozi TV and LX.TV Productions. "We fell in love with the show the minute we heard about it and knew it would be a good fit for Cozi TV. Reality television resonates with our viewers and we know Pushing It will serve as a great complement to our iconic TV series and hit movies, along with our other original programming."
Skoog, born and raised on a small farm in rural Minnesota, moved to New York in her mid-20s to pursue her passion for fitness and became a top personal trainers. She is described as "a master trainer, doula, childbirth educator and nutritionist all rolled into one."
"My relationship with my clients is unique -- I kick their butts at the gym, but I’m also their friend and confidant for some of their biggest life moments," Skoog says. "I love sharing that with them, and I’m so excited to share it with the Cozi TV audience. I hope the lessons that my clients and I learn along the way will inspire other women and other couples to talk about the same issues in their lives."
Cozi TV, which replaced the NBC-owned stations' digital network Nonstop, launched Dec. 20 on the 10 stations, including WNBC New York and KNBC Los Angeles, and expanded to other affiliates Jan. 1. It's now available to more than 40 million homes in the country's largest markets.
The network programs a mix of classic TV shows, such as Charlie’s Angels, Magnum, P.I. andThe Six Million Dollar Man, along with hit movies and original fare including Being Mandela, starring Nelson and Winnie Mandela's granddaughters, and 1st Look, a travel show hosted by former Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky, and home design programs including George to the Rescue and Open House.
Pushing It -- created and executive produced by Stephanie Krikorian of Snow Day Works LLC -- debuts at 9 p.m. EST on Sunday, June 2.
