'Jersey Shore' Finale: Ronnie Ortiz-Magro Ponders the Show's Legacy, Transitioning to Acting (Video)
Jersey Shore will draw the curtain on its fifth season Thursday and as of yet, the series has not been picked up for another.
Should the latest episode be the last, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro tells The Hollywood Reporter that he believes the smash hit series will go down in the history books.
“It’s weird to even think of the thought of not doing another Jersey Shore,” Ortiz-Magro said during a visit to the THR Covers Lounge. “Hopefully we do another one, but if it was to end now, it’s been a heck of a run. I think that we would stand out as probably one of the most hit reality shows to ever hit MTV or just cable television in general.”
With news of key castmember Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s pregnancy, questions remain as to how the series would continue with her newly formed family. The pint-sized reality starlet is currently filming a spinoff of her own with Jenni “JWoww” Farley in Jersey City.
“If this were to be our last season, I would want it to be Jersey because we started in Jersey and finished in Jersey,” Ortiz-Magro said. Asked about other potential filming locations, he was quick to add: “But if we had to go somewhere else, I would probably do Vegas.”
The Bronx native, who currently splits his time between Los Angeles and New York, also discussed his desire to break into the acting world. He and his castmates got their first taste of acting on the set of the Farrelly brothers’ The Three Stooges, where they will be featured as themselves. Since then, Ortiz-Magro has been taking acting lessons and reading plays in L.A.
“It’s something I was doing for a little bit, but I am promoting the new season and traveling. So I want to get back into it little by little,” he admitted.
While plans of opening his own gym have also been put on hold, Ortiz-Magro is currently capitalizing on another one of his signature trademarks -- the mysterious Ron Ron Juice.
“Ron Ron Juice is coming out, finally,” he said. “I had the tasting yesterday, the sample, and it’s actually better than when I make it. I walked into the lab and I was like, ‘Oh, this is gonna taste like crap.’ And I walked in and I was like, ‘This is better than what I make. They’re on to something here!’”
The fruity cocktail is expected to hit stores this summer, just in time for Seaside Heights’ busiest season.
Fans can tune in for this season's final fist-pump on Thursday, March 15 at 10 p.m. Following the MTV broadcast, Snooki will sit down for her first interview since officially announcing her engagement and pregnancy earlier this month.
“Now we really are like a family because it’s like, now we have a kid,” Ortiz-Magro said of his pal’s big news. “Wow. I’m gonna be an uncle, almost.”
