'Jersey Shore' Preview: What to Expect From the Final Season (Video)
Prepare to say goodbye to Seaside Heights.
With season six of Jersey Shore upon us, the cast of MTV’s surprise hit reality series tells The Hollywood Reporter what viewers can expect from their final summer at the shore.
“Everyone finally came into their own this season,” says Ronnie Magro, who this season finally shares a room with longtime on-and-off girlfriend Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola -- without a third wheel. “It was awesome,” adds Sam. “Truthfully, you’ll get to really see how it was. The ups and downs of the Sam-Ron relationship, but it was so good that me and Ron actually moved in together that we’re living together [in New York] now.”
And while Sam-Ron appear to have finally reached common ground after a tumultuous few years, they’re hardly the only cast members to be settling down. Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s pregnancy and engagement are documented during the upcoming season, as is Deena Cortese’s struggle to deal with a long distance relationship with her new beau. For her part, Jenni “JWOWW” Farley continues her relationship with Roger (the couple recently announced their engagement, which will likely be seen on the upcoming season of Snooki & JWOWW), and, of course, Pauly D and Vinny Guadagnino continue their epic bromance. (Jokes Pauly, “I’m just waiting for him to pop the question. I’ve been doing all the right things.”)
The first episode, debuting Thursday, Oct. 4, at 10 p.m., finds Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino fresh out of rehab and involved in a pseudo-relationship with Paula, who will surely pop up more throughout the season. The polarizing -- and newly sober -- roommate attempts to mend fences upon his arrival at the house, and apparently his olive branch worked.
“I feel like everyone fell in love with Mike,” JWOWW says. “They got to know him all over again, and I am just so proud of Mike. I just feel like I’m a little sister looking up to him.”
Says Sorrentino: “It took me a little time to find out the answers, and sometimes you never do, but I found out that fitness has always been a big part of my life and that was definitely one of the big keys to finding myself.”
“I’m very happy,” he adds, noting that his co-stars played an instrumental part in helping him get back on his feet.
For a show that gained notoriety due to the drunken exploits of eight uninhibited party animals, it seems almost unbelievable that MTV went forward with filming not one, but two sober cast members this time around. With Snooki expecting her first child, the 24-year-old stepped back from her partying ways with fellow “meatball” Deena jumping right into the void.
“She’s fun regardless,” says Deena of her partner in crime. “[But] it was good, ‘cause me and her actually got to bond on a different level this time than us just drunk falling on top of each other.”
"I think this was probably a good end for all of us," she adds of the series finale.
If the tabloid headlines are any indication, Deena had plenty of fun for the both of them. The pint sized reality star landed an arrest for disorderly conduct this season, though she ultimately paid a $106 fine and pleaded guilty to failing to use the sidewalk.
Though it’s the end of an era for these roommates, they’re not ready to really say goodbye. Asked about a potential reunion in the future, Sam suggested: “Maybe one day we’ll all decide to bring our kids there.”
But when that day comes, don’t expect the cameras to be rolling.
“It’s sad, but I think the fans are gonna enjoy number six,” says the Situation. “I’m happy to bow out on a great show and be a part of a show that’s changed reality TV.”
Notes Pauly, “I’m definitely blessed to be a part of this experience and I’m glad that I have seven lifelong friends now.” Up next for the DJ? He plans to spin at JWOWW and Roger’s wedding, though the couple has yet to set a date.
“If I had my choice, I’d want it in Vegas,” JWOWW says of her big day. “I’m trying to figure out a way to do it.”
