Last season on MTV’s Jersey Shore in Italy, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino dropped a bomb on his roomies and viewers when he disclosed that he hooked up with Nicole “Snooki” Sorrentino during a trip to L.A. and while she was dating her current boyfriend, Jionni. But, Snooki says it didn’t happen. When Season 5 premieres on Thursday, viewers will see that the conflict has followed them back to Seaside Heights.

“I think it goes from the beginning of Jersey to the end,” Jenni “JWoww” Farley tells The Hollywood Reporter when she visited the THR Covers Lounge. “Like, you’ll see that whole relationship unfold the whole season.”

And like in Italy, you’ll also see that JWoww isn’t letting her friendship with Snooki get in the way of finding out the truth. She wants to know as much as everyone else if the two “smushed” in L.A.

“I’m a best friend. So, If I wanted to be a ‘friend,’ I’d be like, ‘Oh, Nicole, I’m totally on your side,’ that’s it, whatever,” she says. “I am on her side 100 percent, but I’m also being real. So, being a best friend, you have to investigate.”

“You have to call your friend out when they’re not being good, either or, whether it’s damaging or not, you just have to be truthful,” she continues. “And whether Nicole liked it or didn’t like it, that’s how I had to be, because that’s what best friends do.”
