Jillian Michaels Will Return to NBC's 'Biggest Loser' (Video)
The fitness pro rejoins the reality franchise that made her famous.
After two years away, Jillian Michaels will return to NBC's The Biggest Loser in January.
The trainer made the announcement on Tuesday's edition of the Today show, revealing she'll be back for the weight-loss reality competition's 14th season. The upcoming installment lowers the age range to include contestants as young as 13. (Unlike their adult competitors, they won't be weighed on TV nor will they be up for elimination).
Michaels left Biggest Loser in 2011 following the series' 11th season, citing her desire to take some time off from the show's grueling schedule start a family. She later had a brief stint on daytime TV's The Doctors and welcomed two daughters with partner Heidi Rhoades.
"The show has chosen to go after something very controversial -- they're going to go after childhood obesity," said Michaels, when asked why she's returning. "And there are going to be three teenagers on each team, and they're not going to be on the ranch and they're not going to be competing, but it's obviously something that needs to be handles with kid gloves, but it's something that needs to be handled. And as a mom of two, and as someone who used to be an overweight kid, it's something I'm really passionate about."
