Jim Belushi, Diane English Developing Comedy Project

The actor would join a growing list of sitcom stars returning to network TV should the effort go to series.

Fresh off dramedy The Defenders, Jim Belushi could be heading back to his comedy roots, joining a growing number of sitcom stars returning to the small screen.

The According to Jim star and Murphy Brown creator Diane English are developing a comedy revolving around a single father with a teenager with ABC Studios, which distributed his 2001-09 sitcom.

Belushi will serve as an executive producer and co-write with English; Brillstein Entertainment Partners is expected to produce, along with English and Belushi’s production shingles.

In addition to Belushi, Roseanne Barr is developing Downwardly Mobile with 20th Century Fox Television, Tim Allen is returning to TV with Last Man Standing set for the fall on ABC, where former Cheers star Kirstie Alley developing a sitcom.
