USA's pilot Paradise Pictures has found its director.

John Dahl has signed on to helm the drama starring Boardwalk Empire's Morgan Spector. The series centers on ambitious people striving to get to the top in 1940s Hollywood when the dream factory was at its peak. They aren't, however, prepared for the challenges they're about to face: the end of the studio monopolies, the blacklist and the new disruptive technology of television.

Hailing from Universal Cable Productions, Paradise Pictures is executive produced by Suits creator Aaron Korsh and is written and executive produced by Suits' Rick Muirragui. USA first ordered the pilot in late April.

Dahl started off directing features, of which his credits include Rounders, Red Rock West and The Last Seduction, before segueing to episodic television. Among the numerous episodes of TV he's helmed: Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Ray Donovan, The Americans, Justified, House of Lies, The Strain and AquariusHe is repped by UTA and Brillstein.
