The Comedy Central host called the actor a "pain in the ass" during a sit-down with Stephen Colbert at a fundraiser this week in Montclair, N.J.

According to the comedy website Third Beat (via Gawker), Stewart said Grant copped a diva attitude ahead of a Daily Show appearance to promote his 2009 comedy Did You Hear About the Morgans? Apparently, Grant had complained in the studio about having "other places to be" and also was unhappy with the film clip chosen for his interview with Stewart, saying: "What is that clip? It’s a terrible clip."

Stewart's response: “Well, then make a better f---ing movie." He said he'd “never” have Grant booked on the program again.

"He’s giving everyone shit the whole time, and he’s a big pain in the ass," sniped Stewart about Grant. "And we've had dictators on the show."

Grant responded Friday via Twitter, writing: "Turns out my inner crab got the better of me with TV producer in 09. Unforgivable. J Stewart correct to give me kicking. "

Grant's latest film credits include Cloud Atlas, opposite Tom Hanks and Halle Berry, and the upcoming third installment of the Bridget Jones franchise, in which he'll reprise his role as the caddish Daniel Cleaver.
