Jon Stewart Can't Stop Replaying Donald Trump's Campaign Announcement: "It Was Real"

Trade agreements just aren't as much fun as listening to the real estate kingpin sing his own praises.
A still from Wednesday's 'The Daily Show'

Jon Stewart wishes that each day would bring a story as wacky as Donald Trump's presidential-campaign announcement.

The Daily Show host started Wednesday's episode by pretending that Trump throwing his hat in the ring had been a fantastical dream. Stewart then pulled what appeared to be a piece of Trump's hair out of his jacket and rejoiced, "It was real!"

Stewart lamented that he had to follow the previous day's Trump segment with a comparatively dry story about the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement.

"I'm going through withdrawal — I need me some Donald," said Stewart, interrupting the trade report to pull out a large button that he then periodically pressed to play comically absurd sound bites from Trump's Tuesday speech.

"Honestly, it's better than freebasing," said Stewart of listening to the real estate mogul's crazy quotes.

Stewart went on to talk about the politicians who surprisingly were crossing party lines in relation to the trade agreement, but the host nonetheless continued returning to his favorite subject.

"The point is this: Our legislative system is complex, and we need a leader who can cut through the bureaucracy and get stuff done," said Stewart, adding: "Luckily, I happen to know a guy." Stewart then played footage of Trump claiming he would be "the greatest jobs president that God ever created."

Stewart then said as Trump, "In fact, I don't know why God took so long to create me — or everything. Six days, for heavens and Earth and all the creatures? I could have done it in three and made a profit, and believe me, the Chinese would have got none of it."
