ABC is getting into the war game.

The network is teaming with Gossip Girl and Smash alum Josh Safran and uber-producer Mark Gordon for an untitled Quantico drama, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Described as Grey's Anatomy meets Homeland, the drama — which has received a script commitment — revolves around a group of diverse FBI recruits going through 21 weeks of training to become special agents at the FBI's academy in Quantico, Virginia. Although each of them has secrets and hidden reasons for enlisting, one harbors the biggest secret of all: They're a sleeper terrorist, who in the near future, has perpetrated the deadliest terrorist attack on U.S. soil since Sept. 11.

Safran will pen the script and executive produce alongside Gordon and the Mark Gordon Co.'s Nick Pepper. The drama hails from ABC Studios, where Gordon's banner is under an overall deal.

The drama marks the first sale of the season for Gordon, who produces ABC's signature hit Grey's Anatomy as well as CBS' Criminal Minds and Showtime's Ray Donovan. Last pilot season, Gordon had three shows go to pilot — ABC's Agatha and Clementine and NBC's Fifth Wheel. Both ABC dramas were passed over, while the comedy was pushed to this development season. Gordon is repped by CAA and Hansen Jacobson.

The Quantico drama marks Safran's latest sale to ABC. Last year, the former Smash showrunner teamed with Fake Empire for ABC thriller Social Circle and with Fox for royal drama Royal. He's repped by UTA and Ziffren Brittenham.
