Julia Roberts' limited series based on Maria Semple's book Today Will Be Different has found a home.

In a competitive bidding situation, HBO has made a development deal for the Annapurna Television project. Roberts will star and produce the adaptation through her Red Om Films banner alongside Semple, who also will pen the script. Annapurna's Megan Ellison and Sue Naegle will executive produce.

Today Will Be Different tells the story of Eleanor Flood, who wakes up determined to be her best self — but then life happens. Taking place over a single day, it's a portrait of one woman's fumbling but valiant attempt to navigate the perils and grace of modern life.

Today Will Be Different  marks a return to television for Roberts, who most recently starred in the HBO 2014 original film The Normal Heart, as well as for Semple, who has previously written for Arrested Development and Mad About You. The project continues the relationship between Annapurna and Semple, who are working on a feature film adaptation of her 2012 book, Where'd You Go Bernadette.

The series is just the latest in a slew of TV projects that have seen A-list stars sign on. Meryl Streep is fronting J.J. Abrams' The Nix, Julianne Moore and Robert De Niro are starring in David O. Russell's Amazon mafia drama and Miles Teller is leading Nicolas Winding Refn's Too Old to Die Young.

Semple is repped by UTA in all areas outside of publishing, where she is with ICM Partners. Roberts is repped by CAA.
