NBC to Air Justin Bieber Concert Special
“Justin Bieber: All Around the World” will debut June 21.
NBC is betting on Justin Bieber this summer.
The network will air a one-hour special, Justin Bieber: All Around the World, on Thursday, June 21 at 8 p.m. ET. The special will feature music performances and documentary footage as Bieber embarks on his tour in support of his album Believe.
Filming will take place over a two-week period and cover seven countries, leading up to a performance in New York City.
Bieber teased the news on Twitter late last week and on Wednesday morning, revealed that he would be performing at Oslo, Norway’s Opera House as part of the All Around the World TV special.
“We’re thrilled to air Justin Bieber’s first network special,” said Doug Vaughan, svp of special programs and late night at NBC. “We’ll have unprecedented access to Justin as our cameras film not only his performances, but his every move on this global tour – giving our viewers an all-access pass to his life over a 12-day period, something rarely seen on TV today.”
Bieber is no stranger to documentaries. A feature-length 3D concert film, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, was released in theaters February 2011 and followed the singer over the span of 10 days, culminating in a sold-out performance at Madison Square Garden. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film grossed nearly $100 million at the box office.
Justin Bieber: All Around the World is produced by Ian Stewart with Done and Dusted Productions.
