Katie Couric Talks 'Today' Reunion, Matt Lauer Crush (Video)
The former morning show co-host gets candid in an interview on Howard Stern's radio show.
Katie Couric acknowledges in an interview with Howard Stern that there had been "cautious overtures" toward her regarding a return to the Today show.
"Matt and I had talked about possibly teaming up and doing a show at some point. And there were some cautious -- I would say cautious -- overtures to me to possibly come back to the Today show, but then they sort of evaporated," she said Tuesday.
When asked whether returning to the NBC morning show was ever a real option for her, Couric demurred: "For me, that was the best job."
She also confessed to harboring a "little crush" on Lauer when he was the news anchor at NBC's New York City affiliate station WNBC. "I thought he was so funny and so quick," she said.
