Kim Kardashian to Recur on Lifetime's 'Drop Dead Diva' (Exclusive)
UPDATED: She'll play a new business partner for April Bowlby on the upcoming fourth season of the Josh Berman dramedy.
Kim Kardashian is continuing her push into scripted fare.
The reality star has been tapped for a multiple episode arc on the upcoming fourth season of Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
Kardashian will play Nikki, who partners with Stacy (April Bowlby) in a new business venture. She will first appear in the Sony Pictures Television dramedy's season premiere, which is slated for the summer.
"I'm ecstatic to welcome Kim to the Diva family,” creator and executive producer Josh Berman said. “In discussing the role of Nikki with her, I'm blown away by her smarts, sense of humor and passion. This series is all about reinvention and I'm so excited to see Kim ‘reinvented’ in the world of Drop Dead Diva.”
Diva revolves around a shallow, aspiring model who dies in a sudden accident only to find her soul resurfaces in the body of a brilliant and thoughtful plus-size attorney (Brooke Elliott). Lifetime renewed the series, which averaged 2.3 million total viewers in its third year, in September.
Kardashian's casting comes mere weeks after she booked a gig to guest star as herself on a February episode of ABC's Tim Allen comedy Last Man Standing. In the episode, reality TV addict Mandy (Molly Ephraim) will run into her idol, Kardashian.
Kardashian's E! series Kourtney & Kim Take New York, chronicling the lead-up to her breakup with NBA player Kris Humphries, concludes its season Sunday.
Her TV credits also include episodes of CSI: NY and How I Met Your Mother and she will next appear in Tyler Perry's feature The Marriage Counselor. She's repped by WME.
