Kurt Fuller Joins Fox's 'Friends and Family' as Jason Ritter's Dad
"Reno 911!'s" Kerri Kenney has been cast as Alexis Bledel's mother in the comedy project.
Fox has found Jason Ritter's father.
Kurt Fuller has signed on to co-star in Friends and Family, the U.S. version of the British comedy Gavin and Stacey, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Reno 911! vet Kerri Kenney also has been cast.
Friends and family are the best support and the worst nightmare when two very different lovers, Gavin (Jason Ritter) and Stacey (Alexis Bledel), meet and try to make a long-distance relationship work.
STORY: TV Pilots 2013: The Complete Guide
Fuller will play Gavin's father, Michael, a curmudgeon (his character description says he's "full of piss and balsamic vinegar") who drives his feisty wife, Pam, bonkers.
Kenney will portray Stacey's mother, Gwen, who is simple, cozy and a little country. Gwen is shy about the fact that Stacey has set her up with an eHarmony account and may be on the verge of checking it out. She is the latest Reno 911! alum to land a pilot: Thomas Lennon joined Sean Hayes' NBC pilot in February.
Comedian Dustin Ybarra co-stars. David Rosen (I Just Want My Pants Back) will write and executive produce with Steve Coogan, Jane Tranter, Julie Gardner, James Corden, Ruth Jones and Henry Normal. Michael Patrick Jann is set to direct. Sony Pictures Television, BBC Worldwide Productions and Baby Cow Productions produce.
Repped by APA and Gold Coast Management, Fuller recurs on Psych and appeared in The Good Wife, Scandal and Parenthood. Kenney, repped by Gersh and Principato-Young, has recently appeared in Fun Size, Wanderlust and TV's The New Normal.
