Lauren Ambrose, Steven Pasquale and Richard Dreyfuss to Headline A&E's 'Coma' Miniseries (Exclusive)
The medical thriller from Tony and Ridley Scott also stars Ellen Burstyn, James Woods and Geena Davis.
NEW YORK – Tony and Ridley Scott have lined up an all-star cast, including multiple Oscar winners, for A&E’s reboot of Michael Crichton’s medical thriller Coma.
Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under) and Steven Pasquale (Rescue Me) headline the miniseries about a doctor who begins to suspect that something is amiss when healthy patients begin to fall into comas.
Richard Dreyfuss, Ellen Burstyn, James Woods and Geena Davis also star. The two-night, four-hour miniseries is set to bow Memorial Day 2012. The project will shoot in Atlanta, home of an increasing number of film and TV projects including BET's The Game and AMC’s Walking Dead.
Additional supporting cast includes James Rebhorn (White Collar), Joe Morton (The Good Wife) and Joseph Mazello (The Pacific).
The miniseries is a retelling of Crichton’s 1978 film based on Robin Cook’s book. The original film starred Michael Douglas, Genevieve Bujold, Rip Torn and Richard Widmark.
The Scotts were also behind A&E's The Andromeda Strain, the 2008 miniseries based on Crichton's novel of the same name.
Coma is from Sony Pictures Television. Executive producers are Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, David W. Zucker, Martin Erlichmann and Mikael Salomon. The script was written by John J. McLaughlin.
