ESPN Analyst Drops F-Bomb on Live Television (Video)
Lee Corso apologized minutes later for his unscripted outburst on Saturday.
ESPN's college football analyst went unfiltered during a live broadcast on Saturday previewing the game between Southern Methodist University and University of Houston.
It was time for the analysts' picks and Lee Corso, 76, who has been at the cable sports network for more than 20 years, got a little excited when he was asked to weigh in.
When it looked like Corso would pick SMU (he held up a SMU megaphone), at the very last second he shouted "F--- it!," switching to Houston and donning the head of mascot Shasta.
His fellow commentators Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit, along with the college crowd assembled for ESPN College GameDay roared after he dropped the F-bomb.
"Glad there's a delay," guest Carl Lewis said soon after Corso's uncensored slip, even though there was none, according to the Houston Chronicle.
"Shasta, shame on you!," said Fowler. "Wash that mouth out." Herbstreit went on to jokingly close the mascot's mouth.
About a half hour later, Corso apologized for his unscripted on-air outburst that aired during the Nebraska-Michigan game. It also was shown on ESPN2 and ESPNU.
"Earlier today on College GameDay while picking the SMU-Houston game I got a bit excited and used an expletive that I shouldn't have used. I apologize and can promise it won't happen again," the statement read.
Houston, ranked No. 11 in the BCS, won the game by a score of 37-7.
