Lifetime Cancels 'Marrying Hef' Special After Hugh Hefner, Crystal Harris Call Off Wedding
But Playboy magazine will still have a gaffe on its July cover, which already went to print and reads, "America's Princess: Introducing Mrs. Crystal Hefner."
Lifetime has canceled plans to air a two-hour docu-special called Marrying Hef after Crystal Harris called off her wedding to Hugh Hefner.
"After the recent developments, we’re not moving forward with the special," a network rep confirms to The Hollywood Reporter. Lifetime cameras were to tape their wedding.
Harris, 25, was set to wed Hefner, 85, in front of 300 guests at the Playboy mansion this Saturday.
But Harris will still be featured on the cover of the July issue of Playboy magazine, which reads, "America's Princess: Introducing Mrs. Crystal Hefner."
"We are not changing the cover as it has already gone to print and will hit newsstands this Friday," a Playboy Enterprises rep tells THR.
The couple announced Tuesday they would no longer wed. Portions of their courtship were featured on E! reality show Girls Next Door.
"After much deep reflection and thought I have decided to end my engagement with Hef. I have the utmost respect for Hef and wish him the best going forward," Harris wrote on her website. She also appeared in a recent Funny or Die video mocking their age gap.
Hefner joked on Twitter Tuesday night: "The breakup is a heartbreaker, but better now than after the marriage. Since we're not getting married on Saturday, I've scheduled a movie: Runaway Bride. Seems appropriate."
