Lifetime Gives Pilot Order to Scripted Drama 'HR'
The female-fronted drama hails from "Terra Nova" executive producer Aaron Kaplan.
Lifetime is exploring the world of human resources.
The female-skewing cable net said Monday that it has given a pilot order to HR, a drama revolving around the uptight director of human resources at a global company.
Glenn Porter (I Melt With You) will pen the pilot, with Terra Nova's Aaron Kaplan and his Kapital Entertainment on board to executive produce the entry, which will be co-executive produced by Porter and Michael Lohmann.
The drama will see the beleaguered HR director abandon standard corporate practices as she looks to inspire the company to strive for new ambitions -- and profits. Her new management style and untraditional point of view in the male-dominated company makes waves with the higher-ups while others find her style a welcome relief.
As Lifetime continues its aggressive push into scripted fare, the HR news comes just days after the network ordered Renee Zellweger's period drama Cinnamon Girl to pilot. HR joins a development slate that also includes The Secret Lives of Wives and Witches of East End.
Lifetime has found success on the scripted drama side, with The Client List picked up for a second season earlier this year and Army Wives and Drop Dead Diva in their respective sixth and fourth seasons. The network also recently gave a series order to Marc Cherry's Devious Maids, after ABC passed on the project in May.
The network recently underwent a rebranding campaign.
