Lifetime Passes on Renee Zellweger Drama 'Cinnamon Girl'
The project was a coming-of-age story set in the 1960s and loosely based on the actress' move from Texas to Hollywood.
Lifetime has passed on Renee Zellweger.
The cable network has opted not to move forward with its drama pilot Cinnamon Girl, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
STORY: Lifetime Orders Renee Zellweger Drama to Pilot
Created by Zellweger and Anthony Tambakis (Warrior), Cinnamon Girl revolved around four girls as they came of age during the cultural revolution of the late 1960s and early 1970s in Los Angeles. The drama explores Cassie, Lola, Penny and Lou's lives as they reach a crossroads of the era's political, artistic, social and sexual rebellions. The entry was loosely based on Zellweger's move from small-town Texas to Hollywood stardom.
Warrior's Gavin O'Connor directed the pilot; Danny Bramson (Jerry Maguire) produced. Zellweger and Tambakis co-wrote the story, with the latter penning the pilot.
Allie MacDonald, Jade Bartlett, Brooke Anne Smith and Sebastian Pigott starred.
The news comes a month after Lifetime opted to pass on Kim Raver starrer The Secret Lives of Wives and two weeks after it ordered drama Witches of East End to series. A decision on the future of drama pilot HR has yet to be made.
