Liz Lemon Getting Married on '30 Rock' (Photo)
The long-suffering writer, portrayed on the show by Tina Fey, will finally say "I do" in a late November episode, NBC announced.
Liz Lemon is finally going to tie the knot -- and no, it's not to Astronaut Mike Dexter.
NBC announced Thursday that the Tina Fey-portrayed unlucky-in-love head writer of "TGS" -- the fictional show-within-a-show on 30 Rock -- will wed her sweet-if-hapless boyfriend Criss Chross, played by James Marsden. The wedding episode will air on November 29, with a network-provided invitation assuring that the ceremony will not be presented in "a creepy way that perpetuates the idea that brides are virgins and women are property."

Marsden, as Chross, first appeared on the show in last year's season six, in the second episode of the season. He is younger than Lemon, and has yet to find his financial footing -- his hot dog truck didn't work out so well -- but provides her with optimism and is a tremendous cook. He follows in a long line of dysfunctional boyfriends, including an airplane pilot named Carol Burnett played by Matt Damon; a dopey doctor played by Jon Hamm; and the beeper king himself, Dennis Duffy, played Dean Winters (who will be returning for another episode this season).
Technically, this isn't Lemon's first marriage; she was accidentally betrothed to her boss, Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) in a fifth season episode; she also decided to abandon all notions of love that season, though obviously, it didn't stick. With 30 Rock ending after this season, it looks like this marriage just might last.
