Cuse and screenwriter Ryan Condal are set to adapt Oni Press’ graphic novel series The 6th Gun for NBC. The project, which is being produced by Universal TV and Oni's production company Closed on Mondays Entertainment, is the story of six mythical guns in the Old West. When the Sixth Gun, the most powerful and dangerous of the group, resurfaces in the hands of an innocent girl named Becky Montcrief, dark forces reawaken.

Condal is set to pen the script as well as executive produce along with Cuse and Closed on Monday's co-founder Eric Gitter and Andy Bourne. The project marks the first network sale for Closed on Mondays and Oni Press under their new multi-year deal with Universal Television.This effort is based on the comics created by Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt, whose previous Oni book series, The Damned, is in development at Showtime.

The news follows a flury of high-profile projects for Cuse. He is currently running the Universal Television-produced Psycho prequel Bates Motel, starring Vera Farmiga, for A+E, and co-writing Guillermo del Toro's The Strain pilot at FX.

For Condal's part, this isn't his first Oni effort. Among his other credits: Oni’s Queen & Country at Fox and the upcoming Hercules vehicle at MGM. He recently closed a deal to write Boy Nobody for Sony.
