'The Lying Game': Sneak Peek of ABC Family's Teen Drama Starring Alexandra Chando (Exclusive Video)
The summer series, based on Sara Shepard's books, debuts Aug. 15 at 9 p.m.
ABC Family's new summer drama The Lying Game doesn't premiere until mid-August, but The Hollywood Reporter has an exclusive sneak peek at the very first episode.
If you've heard of the CW's fall drama Ringer with Sarah Michelle Gellar, about twins who (sort of) swap identities, then think of The Lying Game as the teen version of that.
Based on Pretty Little Liars author Sara Shepard's books, the series centers on Emma Becker, a foster kid who finds herself assuming the seemingly perfect life led by her identical twin sister Sutton Mercer (both played by As the World Turn's Alexandra Chando), who goes off to find their birth mother. But Emma suddenly finds herself in a bind when Sutton doesn't return at the previously agreed upon location and time. Smells like trouble.
Tack on family issues, two sidekicks, an archnemesis and mysterious boyfriends all set against the backdrop of the awkward, uncomfortable years of high school and it's an enticing hour of television.
In the scene, Emma (as Sutton) interrogates her "sister" Laurel about her twin's parents until she gets hit with a dose of reality from her actual life.
The Lying Game, co-starring Alice Grecyzn, Andy Buckley, Tyler Christopher, Blair Redford and Helen Slater, debuts Monday, Aug. 15 at 9 p.m. on ABC Family.
