There's a change at the top on MacGyver.

Meredith Eaton has joined the cast of the CBS reboot, replacing departed series regular Sandrine Holt, it was announced Wednesday.

Holt played Patricia Thornton, the head of the covert agency named the Phoenix Foundation where Mac (Lucas Till) works. The casting comes on the heels of the Jan. 6 episode, in which Holt exited when Patricia was revealed to be a mole.

Eaton will play Matty Webber, the new director of operations at the Phoenix Foundation and a legend in Covert Ops. Everyone is excited to meet Matty, except for Jack (George Eads), who worked under Matty for 18 months while on assignment in South America. Matty was known for being able to make anyone, including the director of the NSA, cry. Eaton's first episode will air Friday.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have Meredith Eaton join the cast of MacGyver,” said executive producer and showrunner Peter Lenkov. “Matty Webber is a tough cookie and, despite her history with Jack, she’ll have no problem finding her place in the Phoenix team. She may even teach Mac a few new tricks.”

The cast change is the latest bump in the road for MacGyver, which changed writers and directors several times before making its debut in September. In addition, when CBS scrapped the original pilot for the rebooted series, much of the cast was let go with the exception of Till and Eads. Holt joined the drama in July, along with Justin Hires and Tristin Mays.

The reboot has pulled impressive numbers on Fridays for CBS, outperforming every other broadcast series of the night in the 18-49 demo and in total viewers when it debuted in September. The drama earned a full-season pickup a month later

Eaton is best known for her recurring roles on NCIS and Boston Legal. She is repped by Kazarian/Measures/Ruskin & Associates and Mitch Clem Management.
