Mark Duplass Cast in 'Goliath' Season 2

He will play a successful Los Angeles developer on the Amazon legal drama starring Billy Bob Thorton.

Mark Duplass is joining Amazon’s Goliath.

The filmmaker-actor has been cast as a series regular for the second season of the Billy Bob Thornton-led legal drama. Duplass will play Tom Wyatt, a successful Los Angeles developer who wants to give the city a distinct skyline. He’s also a prominent philanthropist, and a major contributor to mayoral candidate Marisol Silva (Ana De La Reguera).

The new season of Goliath — created by David E. Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro — is executive produced by Clyde Phillips (Dexter) and Lawrence Trilling (Parenthood). In January, Thornton won a Golden Globe for his performance in the first season (he’d previously won an Golden Globe for his role on Fargo).

Duplass, for his part, has an overall deal at HBO along with his collaborator-brother Jay (Transparent). Together, the pair created the short-lived HBO dramedy Togetherness, in which Mark starred. More recently, they are behind HBO’s new anthology series Room 104, which was just renewed for a second season at the premium cable network. It’s worth noting that Duplass also fielded several offers last broadcast pilot season, including a part in NBC's Rise.

The filmmaking brothers were first recognized in the early 2000s for writing, directing and producing several acclaimed independent and studio films, such as The Puffy Chair, Cyrus and Jeff, Who Lives at Home. Duplass acting credits include Alexander Lehmann's romantic drama Blue Jay, Lynn Shelton's Your Sister's Sister, Charlie McDowell's sci-fi romance The One I Love, Patrick Brice's horror-comedy Creep, Colin Trevorrow's Safety Not Guaranteed, Humpday and Katherine Bigelow's Oscar-winning Zero Dark Thirty.
