HBO threw its hat into the pilot season craze Thursday.
The premium cable network home to Girls handed out a pilot order to a comedy from brothers Mark and Jay Duplass, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
STORY: Real Drama: The Duplass Brothers and High Stakes, Epically Small Sibling Rivalries
Togetherness follows two couples living under the same roof who struggle to keep their relationships alive while pursuing their individual dreams.
The Duplass brothers will write, executive produce and direct the half-hour pilot; Duplass Brothers Productions' producer Stephanie Langhoff will serve as a co-EP on the project. There are no plans for either to appear on screen.
Togetherness marks the latest comedy pilot at HBO, joining an untitled half-hour from Brothers and Sisters' David Marshall Grant about a group of gay friends in San Francisco as well as People in New Jersey, from Bruce Eric Kaplan, Lorne Michaels and Jason Reitman, as well as Stephen Merchant comedy Hello Ladies, which was picked up to series, at the network as it looks to bolster its comedy coffers which already include Enlightened, Girls and Veep, among others.
Jay Duplass Making Acting Debut on 'The Mindy Project,' Brother Mark Reacts
For the Duplass brothers, the comedy would mark their first small-screen writing gig after numerous features, including Jeff, Who Lives at Home, among others. On the small-screen, they recently appeared on Fox's The Mindy Project, with Mark a fixture on FX's fantasy football comedy The League. They're repped by ICM Partners and Sloane Offer. Their found-footage film, Peachfuzz, was recently picked up by Blumhouse Productions.
