Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo TV Series in the Works
Annapurna Pictures is teaming with "Hung" and "The L Word" alums Angela Robinson and Alex Kondracke to pen the project.
Annapurna Pictures is entering the scripted TV business.
The film production and finance company is working with Hung and The L Word alums Angela Robinson and Alex Kondracke for a scripted drama exploring the Golden Age of Hollywood and the intersecting lives of Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich.
The untitled drama, which marks the company's first major television project, is in development and will be taken out to networks. It will explore the relationships of the starlets with notable figures including John Gilbert, Mercedes de Acosta, Tallulah Bankhead, Alla Nazimova, Barbara Stanwyck, Cary Grant and John Wayne, among others.
The project will be produced by Annapurna Pictures, with its topper Megan Ellison as executive producer. The company's Stephen Feder will oversee day-to-day development and production.
Annapurna's most recent features include David O. Russell's American Hustle, Spike Jonze's Her and the upcoming Channing Tatum, Steve Carell and Mark Ruffalo feature Foxcatcher.
Robinson's credits include True Blood, as well as features such as D.E.B.S. and But I'm a Cheerleader. She was nominated for a WGA Award for her work on HBO's Hung. Kondracke's work includes D.E.B.S. and Sunset Park, which received honorable mention at the Sundance Film Festival for best short filmmaking.

Robinson and Kondracke are both repped by WME. WME's Ari Greenburg FTGS Law's Eric Suddleson and Annapurna's Chris Corabi brokered the deal.
