Maya & Marty is putting together a very special performance in the wake of the June 12 mass shooting in Orlando, Fla., that left 50 dead.

Tuesday's episode of the NBC variety show starring Maya Rudolph and Marty Short will feature the first live performance of the new take on "What the World Needs Now Is Love," the song recently recorded by dozens of Broadway stars to benefit the LGBT community in Orlando.

The mass shooting occurred at Pulse, a gay nightclub, and happened just hours ahead of the Tony Awards. The ceremony was dedicated to its victims and nominees and presenters wore special silver ribbons designed by veteran Broadway costumer William Ivey Long.

Not long after the shooting, 60 Broadway actors and actresses gathered to record a special updated version of the Burt Bacharach-Hal David tune as part of a new "Broadway for Orlando" initiative. All proceeds from the song and video, which are currently available on BroadwayRecords.com and will soon be released on iTunes, will go to the LGBT Center of Central Florida.

Those scheduled to perform the song Tuesday include Tituss Burgess, Victor Garber, Ana Gasteyer, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Whoopi Goldberg, Sean Hayes, Megan Hilty and BD Wong, among many others.

“Ever since this tragedy happened, which touched so many people in the world as well as our company in Orlando, we’ve been looking for more ways to raise awareness and help the victims and their families,” NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said Monday in a statement. “Lorne Michaels and I are so pleased to showcase this song of love — about love — and we thank the Broadway community, producers Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley, and Van Dean of Broadway Records for putting this incredible recording together so quickly. On behalf of Maya, Marty and everyone at NBC, please buy it so we can directly help the LGBT community in Orlando!”

Added Rudetsky: “The Broadway community was so terribly shaken and devastated by the horrific tragedy in Orlando. Everyone wanted to do something as quickly as possible that would truly make a difference.”

Maya & Marty is executive produced by Michaels; Matt Roberts, Erin David, Dave Becky and Marc Gurvitz produce, along with Rudolph and Short. The show airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
