Meghan McCain Calls for Pot Legalization in 'Tonight Show' Appearance (Video)
The political scion and pundit cops to smoking a joint as research for her new book, "America You Sexy Bitch."
Meghan McCain, daughter of Republican Senator John McCain, supports the legalization of marijuana in America You Sexy Bitch, the new book she co-wrote with comedian Michael Ian Black.
The political pundit, who has characterized herself as a socially liberal Republican, said in her appearance on Tuesday's Tonight Show that she had done some research by smoking a joint with a friend while touring the New Orleans-based set of HBO's Treme.

"I was living in Los Angeles very briefly last year and I was shocked at how people here smoke weed the way people in New York pour wine," she said, extolling the "economic benefits" of the drug and drawing "parallels" between pot and alcohol prohibition.
McCain, 27, who also supports gay marriage and adoption, is carving a niche as an outspoken and polarizing media personality. She recently slammed Bristol Palin, daughter of her father's would-be vice president Sarah Palin, calling her "young and confused," and is also the author of a memoir, Dirty, Sexy, Politics.
America You Sexy Bitch (title: Meghan's idea) arrived earlier this week.
