Powers, the PlayStation series that brings the fan-favorite comic book series to life, has found its greatest hero — and he's a familiar face for fans of Quentin Tarantino movies.

Michael Madsen will play Super-Shock in the second season of the superhero drama, Sony announced Wednesday.

Described as "a perfect physical specimen with an unparalleled presence that catapulted him to global fame," Super-Shock is a Superman-like hero who retired from heroics four decades ago who finds himself coming out of retirement to investigate the death of Retro Girl, as seen in the finale of the show's first season.

In the comic that serves as inspiration for the series, Super-Shock acted as an inspiration for the other heroes in the world as the leader of the super team Unity, before going insane and ending up on a destructive rampage that led to his death. Thankfully for Madsen, the Sony series doesn't follow the comic book mythology to the letter, meaning that he's spared a lot of murder in his immediate future.

The second season of Powers, which will see Remi Aubuchon take on sole showrunning duties after sharing them in the first year with novelist Charlie Huston, is in production in Atlanta. It will debut on the PlayStation network in 2016.

Madsen can be seen next in The Hateful Eight.
