Miranda Lambert Featured on Vh1's 'Behind the Music'
The country star tells THR that special will take a “really honest” look at her relationship with Blake Shelton.
The next superstar to be featured on the Vh1 docu-series Behind the Music is none other than country artist (and newlywed) Miranda Lambert.
The episode, debuting Wednesday, July 13, will chronicle her rise to stardom starting form her modest beginnings in rural Texas. Highlights include the singers stint on NBC’s Nashville Star and as well as her win at the 2011 Grammys, where she nabbed the “Best Female Country Vocal Performance” honor.
“It made me laugh and it made me cry all at the same time,” Lambert tells The Hollywood Reporter.
“Sometimes you forget all you’ve done because it’s kind of hectic,” she explains. “And then having my peers -- Kenny Chesney, Sheryl Crowe and Hillary Scott – and my family and best friends from childhood, it’s cool that people would take time out to talk about me.”
The one-hour special will also detail her relationship with fellow country artist and The Voice coach Blake Shelton, whom she wed in May.
"I was a little bit nervous that there would be things that I didn’t want in it," she said. "But it really tells the truth about who I am and where I come from, and about mine and Blake’s relationship. It’s really honest."
Though Lambert told THR that there won't be any private wedding footage in the final episode, she’s not opposed to sharing details of the couple’s life with their fans.
“We pretty much shared all the details about it in the magazines,” she explained. “We were really proud of it. We wanted people to see.”
Lambert admits that not much has changed between she and Shelton since their nuptials. When they’re not jet setting across the country for work, the newlyweds reside on a farm in Oklahoma.
“We’ve been together for almost six years, so we’re used to it. We had all this time before we got married to get used to this lifestyle and that’s what keeps us sane,” she said. “It’s been a little bit sad for both of us because we got married and then we really didn’t get to see each other for the last couple months that much, but the difference is that at the end of the day we know that we’re married and that the other one has our back and it feels good. It feels more settling.”
With a fourth record coming out in November and a Pistol Annies album set for a late August release, it doesn’t look like the new Mrs. Shelton will be slowing down anytime soon.
“We have a lot of tour dates booked into the Fall and all through the rest of Summer and of course the album releasing in November, so you know about two weeks after the album comes out we’ll do crazy press from New York to L.A. to push the record launch," Lambert told THR. "But after that I plan on slowing down a bit, I always slow down around the holidays."
So what does that mean for a family?
“I don’t even have time to think about that,” Lambert admits. “Right now we have seven dogs, so we’re just going to be pet parents. They’re all rescues so either we found them or got them at the pound or whatever. They’re a handful, but it’s fun.”
