More 'Boy Meets World' Stars Heading to Disney Channel Follow-Up? Danielle Fishel Weighs In
The actress otherwise known as Topanga writes that there could be more familiar faces from the former ABC comedy heading to Disney Channel's sequel "Girl Meets World."
Danielle Fishel and Ben Savage might not be the only familiar Boy Meets World faces heading to Disney Channel's Girl Meets World.
Fishel, who played Topanga Lawrence in the ABC Friday night comedy Boy Meets World from 1993-2000, took to her Tumblr page shortly after news broke Monday that she'd be reprising her role for the potential follow-up series to thank fans and hint that there could be additional fan favorites heading to the project.
"I do not know how many BMW cast members will be returning for GMW, or how often they may appear if and/or when they do appear," Fishel wrote.
"Making the decision to do the show involved more conversations than you can possibly imagine," she added, noting that she spoke with former co-stars Savage (Cory), Rider Strong (Shawn), Will Friedle (Eric), William Daniels (George Feeny) and creator/EP Michael Jacobs about whether she should reprise the role. "The first comment out of every person's mouth was, 'Let's only do it if we think we can create something as special as we did with BMW.' "
In Girl Meets World -- which is in the pilot stage -- Savage and Fishel's Cory and Topanga star a happily married couple and parents of 13-year-old daughter Riley, from whose point of view the story is told. A nationwide casting search is underway for the role of Riley Matthews.

"It will have familiar faces, familiar themes and familiar messages," she wrote, thanking fans for their outpouring of support and enthusiasm about the pilot, noting that, like BMW, the new effort won't talk down to viewers. "It will also have new faces, new themes and new messages."
