"Nothing stays the same, so I want to be the one changing it."

It's the answer to one of season two's most overlooked questions in Mr. Robot: Who is Hot Carla (Eve Lindley), and why is she so obsessed with burning everything? The "local pyro" was little more than a background blaze in Elliot Alderson's (Rami Malek) life during the first half of the USA Network drama's second season, but she's in the foreground in the series' upcoming in-universe tie-in book, Mr. Robot: Red Wheelbarrow.

The book, co-written by Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail and series writer Courtney Looney, has so far been shrouded in secrecy, much like the complicated series itself. But the first page of the book, unveiled exclusively by The Hollywood Reporter, reveals much more: Red Wheelbarrow and Elliot's season-two journal are one and the same, featuring new information from none other than the book burner herself, Hot Carla.

"It was hard for me not to burn it, like he wanted," Carla writes on the inside jacket of the veritable marble notebook, which serves as the first page of Red Wheelbarrow. "It was nice to think this journal was something only between Elliot and me, but I know you deserve to read it too."

More information about the book, including the Easter eggs and interactive material contained within, will be revealed during the Mr. Robot: Red Wheelbarrow panel with Esmail and Looney at BookCon in New York City on Oct. 7, moderated by this reporter. The hardcover novel arrives Nov. 1.
